brother

I heard a lot of great things about the Brother CS6000i computer sewing machine and I really wanted to try it out. It’s often the name for talking about the best computer-controlled sewing machines you can buy in the entry-level price list, and I wanted to find out for myself if the whole conversation was justified. Luckily, I have many good friends in the sewing world and could borrow one from a friend who was kind enough to let me spend a few days playing with it.

I should mention that before I got the machine, honestly, I did not expect much. Yes, the reviews are really good, but how could it possibly be so good and still so cheap? Due to my years of experience with sewing machines and sewing machines, I did not believe the reviews and was very skeptical. How did it measure up? Brother CS6000i Sewing Machine – Features

For $ 150 you get many features and attachments that you normally find on machines that are a little more expensive. In fact, you will probably find that you probably never need to buy another attachment for this computer; as it comes with just about every accessory and foot you’ll ever need. Many other sewing machines offer you the most basic accessory, which requires you to buy all the others separately. As you can imagine, this can be very expensive.

Here are some of the other features of Brother CS6000i:

  • Fully computerized with LCD screen
  • button sewing
  • Automatic needle threading
  • 60 built-in stitches (contains many decorative stitches)
  • Extra wide sewing table (ideal for quilting!)

  • 7 one-step button hole styles
  • 9 presser feet

Ease of Use Performance – Does the Brother CS6000i count?

The ease of use of this Brother computerized sewing machine was also a pleasant surprise. Even someone who is very new to sewing could work with this machine in no time. The manual is exceptional and gives you everything you need to do a job with this device. I read the manual from the front to the back and was impressed by the level of detail and the simple instructions. Manuals of some of my most expensive machines (Janome 7700) are not nearly as good as these.

I love making quilts and this machine comes with an extra wide sewing table that is the perfect working space for this type of project. I had no problem creating a baby blanket for my new granddaughter. You will also find this work area for many other projects.

The speed and performance of this machine is also excellent. I tried many different projects and I had no problem with the many different types of fabrics I used. It sewed with precision and was surprisingly quiet. Many cheap machines sound like they are cheap, but this one was not like that at all. One of the features that I really liked was that you can also adjust the speed of the needle. That was handy when I had one of my granddaughters try it. I was able to start her slowly until she gained some self-confidence. After a short time she was able to drive to a higher speed without any problems.

The LCD and computer controls are also very easy to use. There are a lot of great features that can be accessed with a simple push of a button: go backwards, needle up / down, stitch length and width, and much more. I watched my niece Cassidy try it, and within minutes she flew there as if she had owned the machine for years. It’s definitely beginner friendly.

Final Verdict – computer sewing machine with the best price-performance ratio

I admit, I started very skeptical, but to my surprise, I felt quite impressed. This really is a really nice machine and is one of the best value for money machines you will find. I would not have been surprised, because this model has been available for years at a good price and there are few complaints about its durability or performance.

One of the great reasons why I really like this sewing machine is that it is very beginner-friendly. Newcomers to sewing will find a lot of included features that make this machine a pleasure. Speed control, start / stop buttons, pedal-free sewing, auto-threading are just a few of the things that make this device easy for beginners. You will find that once you have mastered the basics, you will focus on turning to other more challenging projects and having all the options available to accomplish almost everything that comes to your mind.

Quite simply, I would definitely not hesitate to get brother CS6000i for someone who just started. It was easy to use and delivered excellent results. So, if you’re looking for a good all-round machine at a great price, then you can not go wrong with this computer-controlled Brother machine. For under $ 150 you get a machine that is loaded with features and also comes with tons of accessories. The added benefit of lifelong phone support and a 25-year warranty makes this sewing machine unbeatable in this price range.

I can think of a few people who could get that for their upcoming birthdays.

Do you think the Brother CS6000i would work for sewing a name on a fluffy towel? I have never used a sewing machine and bought it. I tried to do it with 3 with the standard needle, and it keeps jamming and I broke two needles. So I’m wondering if I’m just using the wrong needle or setting or if it’s not capable of doing what I want to do with the name on a towel. Help??

I do not own this machine, so I’m not 100% sure, but would expect the standard needle to work for a towel (unless it’s too thick). I’m also not sure what “setting 3” is on the CS6000i device. You should check if it came with larger needles like size 14 or 16. These would be better suited for thicker fabrics. You should read the instructions to determine the combination of needle and type of thread to use. I hope it helps.

So, do you think maybe it would be alright with a bigger needle? I’m scared to death to break this thing, as even reasonable price, it was expensive to break!

Shot 3 is the zigzag stitch I’ve optimized to be as close and as wide as possible.

Thank you for your response.

I have found something that can be helpful now and in the future. Check out the link below to see what type of needle to use for a particular project with the Brother CS6000i. They also have free phone support if you want to give them a quick phone call to meet your concerns. Unfortunately I do not have this machine or I would try it for you.

I went ahead and sent the customer service by e-mail, we’ll see if they say anything! I do not see the link you mentioned, which sounds very helpful!

I also found that today! Very helpful, thanks! It will help me in other projects, that’s for sure!

Hi, does that work on thick fabric like denim? If you finally want to make curtains, would you recommend this machine? Many Thanks!

Hi, yes, the CS6000i is able to sew denim and can also make curtains. Just do not work with something too thick than denim and you’ll be fine.

Can you quilt with this machine?

Hello Tracey
Yes, you can create some basic quilts with this device. It’s not meant for hard work, but you can get away with it safely.

Is the voltage ok for Australia? All I’ve seen is 120V, we need 240V

I am new in sewing and also very short. I wondered if that would work, to line jeans or if they were too thick. Many Thanks!

This is a great beginner machine, but I do not think it works with multiple layers of denim.

First of all congratulations to your side. I would like to thank you and facilitate my research.
I’m new to sewing and I’m looking for a good machine for beginners and advanced, as I do not want to swap that fast.
I’ll use the machine to put on clothes like dresses, shirts and skirts.

Thanks in advance.

Does the winder automatically start when the bobbin is full?
